Conditions of Entry to Greyville Racecourse

A few things to comply with at this Hoof Stompin’ Event so that you can enjoy yourself and others can too.

In order to protect the rights of our sponsors please note that only official sponsors’ promotional material can be worn or displayed in any way. This includes handouts of any kind. This will be strictly enforced.

Please do not park illegally as your car may be towed away at your own expense.

Racegoers will only be allowed access into Greyville Racecourse or into one of the special ticket controlled facilities if in possession of a valid entry ticket and/or appropriate wristband. These must be produced at various facility access points and on request by any gate/entrance control personnel.

Parents are responsible for and are requested to control the activities of their children at all times.

No persons under the age of 18 are permitted to gamble.

The following items are prohibited: - firearms and ammunition, dangerous knives and weapons including imitation weapons, explosives, teargas, mace or similar airborne chemical agents; air horns, vuvuzelas, bugles and the like; (we’re not spoiling your fun – the sound spooks the horses) fireworks; banners or flags with either vulgar, racist, sexist, discriminatory and/or offensive content; narcotics.

No chairs will be allowed through the gates. (except wheel chairs)

Firearms will NOT be taken in for safekeeping at the venue. Please leave them at home.

Animals of any kind are not permitted. (except guide dogs)

No charcoal braai or open fires are permitted anywhere on course at Greyville Racecourse or on the golf course.

The grass racetrack is strictly out of bounds at all times except between races at which times the ramps provided must be used.

In terms of the Financial Intelligence Centre Act (No 38 of 2001), any person depositing, betting or collecting R25 000 or more must provide their full name, proof of identity and contact details.

Right of admission is reserved.

The attendee assumes all risk and danger incidental to the attendance of this event. The attendee releases the Vodacom Durban July sponsors, Gold Circle (Pty) Ltd, Worldsport (Pty) Ltd, Event World and all directors, officers, employees, agents, representatives and/or volunteers thereof, from any and all liabilities, damages, costs and expenses arising out of/or relating to attendance at this event.

We appeal to you not to consume too much alcohol. A dedicated driver is strongly recommended.

Please note that the S.A.P.S. will be forced to adopt a Zero Tolerance attitude towards misbehavior due to excessive drinking.

Underage drinking is strictly not permitted.

Gold Circle shall be entitled to evict any person not complying with these rules or behaving in any manner considered socially unacceptable and no refunds or compensation for damages will be given to any such person.

TUNNEL CLOSING 15h45
In the interests of safety the tunnel under the racetrack near the winning post will be closed from 15h45 and will re-open at 16h55

Please move to the side of the racetrack from which you wish to watch the main race well before 15h45.

In addition to the underground tunnel located just after the winning post there are two track crossings at about the 100m and 200m marks. These will operate when there are no horses anywhere on the track. Please do not attempt to cross the racetrack unless it is at one of the track crossings provided.

LOOK AFTER YOUR POSSESSIONS!
Racegoers are respectfully reminded to look after their possessions at all times on raceday particularly after sunset. Do not flaunt cash in full view of the public. Do not leave handbags unattended on or under tables. Look after you cell phone. Be aware of suspicious persons loitering around you.

SOUND ADVICE
An appeal is made to Marquee operators to consider how their volume levels will affect their neighbours and to keep these volumes at a reasonable level. A sound specialist with sophisticated sound monitoring equipment will patrol the area with the task of reducing excessive sound. Should you be experiencing a problem with your neighbour’s volume please contact the Venue Operations Centre on 031 314 1646.

VODACOM DURBAN JULY – EARLY CLOSING TIME
Because of its size and the difficulty of policing such a large property a decision was taken some years ago, on advice from a variety of safety and security role players, to close the event at 22h00. After consultation, a decision has been taken for the 2012 event, to relax this restriction and to close at 23h00 sharp.

Although this decision will allow party goers to enjoy an extra hour the event will close at 11h00 under the control of Event Security and the South African Police.

Members of the race-going public are requested to respect these efforts to protect their safety and are asked to comply with the above arrangements. We appeal to all to respect these efforts.

BEREA S.A.P.S.
Berea S.A.P.S. will have an operating Community Service Centre on site for your convenience located behind the Grandstand near the Avondale Road Entrance.

AFTER ELEVEN
Please be advised that, although there are many after parties planned in other areas of the city aimed at Vodacom Durban July attendees, there is only one Official After Party. This will take place within the Greyville Racecourse area at the DLI Hall. The after party will have its own parking arrangements and no vehicles will be allowed into the golf course or racecourse parking areas after 19h00.

For your safety a VOC (Venue Operations Centre) will be in operation at Greyville Racecourse on raceday. Please report any unruly or suspicious behaviour or other incidents to the VOC on
031 314 1646.
